Update: After this news broke out and became viral, Indian Railways issued a statement that the waiting list is not ending. But on-demand trains will run, which will bring down the waitlisted tickets by a larger margin.

Indian railways’ recent National Rail Plan (NRP) 2030 will come as a relief for Indians who travel through trains frequently. The plan assures that all the tickets of all passengers will be confirmed and there will be no waiting list.

What Is The National Rail Plan 2030?

NRP 2030 is formulated by Indian railways to dissolve the waiting list for passengers and to assure that all the tickets have confirmed status. The government is planning to achieve this by generating more revenues for railways to increase capacity of trains more than its demand. Besides, the mega plan will also aim to improve infrastructure of railways.

What Are The Other Plans Of Indian Railways?

Through NRP 2030, the Indian railways is also aiming to increase the revenue through freightage and shipment. The current target is acquiring 47% of total freight movement through railways. 

Indian railways is also draftingPublic Private Partnership model for the construction of 4 more Dedicated Freight Corridors by 2030. This will reduce the conveyance time exponentially and help in monitoring traffic.

According to the sources, the railways have targeted to construct and authorize 2800 km of  Dedicated Freight Corridors trails for private shipments till march 2022, 11km of which will already be completed by the month of march in next year. 

Even currently, the Indian railways carry out private freight only for sectors with huge demands like coal and steel. Through the NRP, the railways is planning to have long term collaborations with e-commerce companies like Amazon and Flipkart.
