IT Employees’ Issues Will Be Finally Raised In Maharashtra Legislative Assembly: 1st Time Ever!

There are millions of IT employees in India, who have dedicated their lives to the industry, making India ‘Atmanirbhar’, and stronger. When the world stands in awe, appreciating the IT power of India, it’s because of these employees and their relentless hard work.

But sadly, very few politicians have ever raised the concerns faced by IT employees in State Legislative Assemblies or Parliament.

Although IT employees and IT sector are counted among the top tax payers, very few politicians do actually care about the wellbeing of the employees, and have any concern about the issues they face.

But thanks to NITES (Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate), which is India’s one of the biggest IT employee unions, things will change.

And the first step has already been taken.

IT Employees Concern Will Be Raised In Maharashtra Legislative Assembly

Recently, NITES President, Harpreet Singh Saluja met Hon’ble Member of Legislative Council Maharashtra Shri Gopichand ji Padalkar, and apprised him about the problems and concerns of IT, ITES, BPO and KPO employees in the state.

They had a long meeting, and several issues and concerns were discussed.

Shri Padalkar acknowledged the issues faced by IT employees in the state, and has assured that he will raise this matter during the Winter Season of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (December 14th and 15th).

This will be for the 1st time that any elected leader will seek answers from the Govt, related to IT employee’s welfare and wellbeing.

Which Topics Can Be Discussed In The Legislative Assembly?

One of the biggest, most impactful issues is regarding salary cut for those employees, who are under quarantine due to coronavirus.

As we reported earlier, several IT firms are deducting salaries of employees, who are placed under quarantine, and this is not right.

Besides, there are issues such as denial of maternity benefits, denial of crèche facility, no overtime & shift allowances, denial of severance pay, deduction of leaves, 90 days notice period and more.

By raising these concerns, and letting the Govt know about the issues faced by IT employees, NITES is hopeful that solutions can also be found out.

Since the lockdown started, NITES has already raised the issue of 78,000 employees with Chief Minister Office, Labour Minister, Labour Departments and District Magistrate.

We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
