A new development has been observed in railways, which seems like another effort from the Indian Railways to make the experience more comfortable for its users, especially the ones with the lower side berth tickets.

The lower berth of the railways has been modified in order to ensure some convenience and comfort for the passengers.

Indian Railways Introduces New Design Innovation To Side Lower Berths

A video has surfaced on the social media platform, Twitter, wherein, a railway official is seen explaining the entire modification in the lower side berth of the railway. 

We all know that many of us railway passengers feel discomfort while sleeping on a side lower berth as there is an uneven gap when the seats were felled.

In order to solve this issue, a cushioned side board has been introduced by the railways. This side board can be placed on the felled berth. It provides a continuous and smooth surface for the passengers and also, there is more surface area than what was provided by the legacy berths.

As per a report, this new innovation has been introduced in the AC Two Tier LHB coach, which can be guessed by the presence of a reading lamp which is available as a feature in that class. 

AC Two Tier Passengers Complaining About Less Space For Long Time

The AC Two Tier passengers have been complaining about this issue for a long time now. The same fares are charged for normal and side berths, even though the side berths do not offer any extra space or comfort despite being charged a higher cost.

The video is making the rounds of the internet through Twitter and the Twitterati seem to be pleased with the development as this will ensure more sleeping space for passengers. 

Recently, there were reports about the Indian Railways planning to increase ticket prices, and the possibility of people having to pay more for purchasing platform tickets. 

However, the Indian Railways has also announced that their revenues are down 90%, compared to last year, due to the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
