Kerala Doctor Runs Tata Nexon EV Using Solar Power: This Is How He Hacked Sun’s Energy To Run His Car!

Tata Motors has announced that their first electric SUV, Tata Nexon EV, has crossed a benchmark of 2000 units.

Tata Nexon EV:-

The Tata Nexon EV was launched around 10 months back and the company has managed to sell 2,200 units as of November 2020. The company claims that this shows growing interest in the EV segment. The company claims to be leading the EV segment with a 74% market share.

Available for starting price of Rs 13.99 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India), the Nexon EV comes with a range of 312 km on a single charge, fast charging capability, extended battery life and class-leading safety features. Besides, it has 35 connected car features as well.

This earth-hugging car has seriously everything it takes to give international products a run for their money. But that is not why this car finds a mention in this post. When the Nexon EV was rolled out, many suggestions poured in as to how Tata Nexon could have used the opportunity to stick solar panels on the car’s roof to make it not only an electric but also a self-powered car. While it sounds exciting, the reasons of why it is not practical is not known to many.

But a Doctor from Kerala has found a simpler way to harness the power of the Sun and fuel his electric vehicle for free. Well, almost, if you discount the cost of setting up the solar panels.

Here’s a video that shows a Tata Nexon EV owner who is using solar energy to recharge his house and his Nexon EV.

The doctor from Kerala has been driving his Nexon Electric Car for free as he does not pay any electricity charges to recharge the battery of the car.  He is currently spending no money on recharging the batteries as he has solar panel set up at his home.

He installed solar panels 10 months ago and he bought the Nexon EV post lockdown. He uses the solar panel installed at home is to power his house and also recharge his car. According to CarToq, he is using a zero emission vehicle with zero expense. He also has to pay only 5 per cent road tax which is a lot lesser than petrol or diesel vehicles. 

Certainly an innovative, and out of the box thinking from a doctor!
