Cognizant To Hire 23000 New Employees From Campus

We all know that Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp. has recently appointed Rajesh Nambiar as the chairman and managing director (CMD) for its operations in India.

Nambiar has now announced that about 23000 new people will be hired to join the company by the next year, i.e., 2021. All the new hirings will be done from campuses.

About 17000 employees have already been hired from campuses this year of which, a major chunk was from India.

He said, “We have hired approximately 17,000 freshers from campuses this year, which is one of the highest percentages of campus hires-to-total hires since 2016. We expect to hire around 23,000 from campuses in 2021.”

Focus On Hiring Talent In Digital Sector: Rajesh Nambiar

He was speaking at an interview, wherein he also revealed that the emphasis to hire new people will be in digital fields, such as cloud, data, digital engineering, and internet of things (IoT) and other strategic areas such as cybersecurity, Salesforce, and business modernization technologies.

As per Nambiar, India has been home to 70% of the global workforce and is a crucial hub of leading-edge global delivery, solutioning, and innovation capabilities. He has said that this is the reason why India has been chosen to build more operations. 

However, the company had recently announced that 7000 jobs across various locations throughout various locations will be cut. 

He has said that the demand will be primarily in the digital sector as the company has observed a rising preference of clients towards digital workflows.  He said, “The digital services market is evolving into the next phase where clients have already understood what digital really means to their industries.”

The company reportedly is implementing all its strengths, including strategy, solution portfolio, partnerships, mergers & acquisitions, branding & marketing, and talent on being the biggest beneficiary of digital transformation.
