Larsen & Turbo, India’s one of the biggest engineering and construction company has now received India’s biggest Govt funded civil contract.

This is Rs 24,000 crore worth of project for India’s 1st bullet train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

Larsen & Turbo Grabs Rs 24,000 Crore Bullet Train Project

The National High Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) has allocated Rs 24,000 crore worth of civil contract to Larsen & Turbo.

This contract is related to the bullet train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

Larsen & Turbo stated that they have already started the work, and their employees are on-ground.

This contract was approved and passed by NHSRCL after Govt of India allowed them start work on the Gujarat side of the bullet train route, since Maharashtra is still struggling to get the land for this massive project.

Satoshi Suzuki, Ambassador of Japan to India, along with officials from Railways and NHSRCL were present during the announcement of this contract.

In a statement, NHSRCL said, “There will be a boost in the demand of construction material and machinery like cement, steel, heavy construction machinery, cranes, trailers, etc. The ancillary industries like hospitality, entertainment, health, tourism, real estate and housing and education will also flourish during the construction,”

What Will Larsen & Turbo Do?

As part of the contract, Larsen & Turbo will design and construct 47% alignment for the bullet train project.

The construction major will create and develop:

  • 4 stations which are: Vapi, Billimora, Surat and Bharuch
  • Entire Surat depo
  • 14 river crossings
  • 42 road crossings
  • 6 railway crossings
  • One mountain tunnel of 350 meters length

Out of 508 kms of the bullet train project, Larsen and Turbo will develop 237 km length of viaduct between Vapi (Zaroli Village at Maharashtra- Gujarat Border) and Vadodara.

The company has been provided with 4 years to complete this project.
