Poco Still Using Xiaomi’s Custom MIUI Skin And Service Centers?

Xiaomi had launched Poco as a sub-brand two years back in 2018. Poco rose to fame as a young smartphone brand following the company’s debut, Poco F1’s success.

However, Poco has been launching the rebadged versions of Redmi phones for quite a while.

Poco Global Twitter tweeted to announce its separation from Xiaomi.

In its Twitter announcement, Poco stated that the brand has entered 35 global markets within 3 years and sold over 6 million phones globally with Poco F1 reaching 2.2 million shipments.

Other than Poco F1, the brand has Poco C3, Poco F2 Pro, Poco M2, Poco M2 Pro, Poco X2, Poco X3, and Poco X3 NFC in its portfolio. Poco hasn’t unveiled the market performance of these phone models. Neither has Poco disclosed if any changes in the after-sales services of its phones are on its agenda.

Furthermore, it can be seen that Poco phones still have Xiaomi’s MIUI custom skin on top of Android OS.

Recently, Poco revealed its new smartphone model, Poco M3 that comes with triple rear cameras and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC. In the global markets, it is priced at $149 (around Rs 11,000).

Poco India Became Independent Way Back In January! What Is Poco’s Objective?

Around 10 months earlier in January, the brand’s Indian subsidiary had become an independent brand after separating from its parent company, Xiaomi. The brand in India also still uses Xiaomi’s service center infrastructure and MIUI custom skin.

This development of Poco becoming an independent brand is likely to overpower BBK Electronics that has a huge share in the global smartphone market. It caters to distinct phone models of brands like Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Realme, and iQoo.
