Indian Railways Planning To Deduct Overtime, Travel Allowances

As per the incoming reports, Railways Board has received a proposal to stop giving overtime incentives for their 14 lakh strong workforce.

This means that Indian Railways employees will not receive any extra salary or bonus for working overtime. 

And, there is a proposal to deduct 50% of the travel allowance which is provided to all Railways employees.

The reports state that Railways management is studying the proposals, and can take a decision soon on this.

There has been no confirmation or denial by Indian Railways on this news.

When it comes to unconfirmed reports regarding salary of Indian Railways employees, we need to read it with a pinch of salt.

In August, news reports came in that Railways can stop giving salaries and pensions to all their employees, and ex-employees, and this created a furore all over.

Indian Railways had to come out, and deny these reports.

As per the rumors, due to the lockdown, Railways has emptied their wallets, and there was no money left to pay the salaries to 14 lakh employees.

Since all trains were stopped during the lockdown, and is still suspended (regular trains are suspended, special trains are running), there was fear and speculations that Indian Railways cannot be able to pay the salaries.

But then, Railways has asked the Govt for a special relief package of Rs 53000 crore to handle and manage salaries and pensions of their millions of current and ex-employees.

Will Railways stop all travel allowances and overtime now?
