Kia Seltos Being Recalled: What Is The Issue?

As per information coming in, Kia has decided to recall hundreds and thousands of Kia Seltos, which were manufactured between October 1, 2019, and March 13, 2020.

Only Diesel variant of Kia Seltos are being recalled.

The issue is with the fuel pump of these Kia Seltos diesel SUVs. Some of them are faulty, and Kia has realised that it would be best to recall them, and change the faulty parts.

Some common symptoms of a faulty fuel pump are: vehicle vibration, slow pickup and engine not starting.

The faulty part is 31120Q6910QQK, which is the fuel pump assembly.

You can contact your dealer to find out whether your SUV needs a replacement of fuel pump or not.

How This Recall Is Working Out?

Kia has not officially termed this as a recall, but stating this as Service Action, and informed all the dealers as part of “Technical Service Bulletin”.

Kia is not contacting the buyers of Kia Seltos directly but asking their dealers to do this, which can be a strategy to downplay the impact.

Kia Motor India said, “At Kia Motors, there is a regular practice of upgrading the product. On the feedback received from customers and various sources, necessary improvements are done keeping customers in mind. For vehicles already on road, a communication / guideline is released to the dealers giving details of the inspection process and repairs to be carried out. The recent communication involves inspection of fuel pump & in-case of any observation dealer is required to carry out repair / replacement as the case may be. There is no recall which is announced, it is basically a Service Action Campaign being done on the Kia cars to ensure that our customers do not face any inconvenience.”

Will Other Kia Cars Also Get Impacted?

Interestingly, the 1.5-litre CRDI turbocharged variant of diesel engine is also used in  Hyundai Venue, Creta and Verna. However, since these cars were launched much later, it’s highly unlikely that these cars can have this issue.
