Indiamart Files Case Against Justdial For Copyright; Delhi High Court Stops JD Mart Launch?

India’s biggest B2B online platforms: Indiamart and Just Dial are fighting over stealing ideas and copyright issues.

Both sides have reached Court, and the battle is about to turn ugly.

What exactly is happening here?

Indiamart Sues Just Dial Over Copyright Issues

After Just Dial planned to launch their B2B platform JD Mart, Indiamart has filed a case against them, for stealing their ideas.

As per Indiamart, Just Dial copied entire website compilations of Indiamart, and is about to launch their own platform called JD Mart, which is based on Indiamart.

Responding immediately to the lawsuit, Court ordered appointed commissioners to carry searches at JD Mart offices, check their inventory, website database, mobile app, and business model.

Infact, Delhi High Court has provided an interim injunction in favour of Indiamart.

This means that the launch of JD Mart has not been allowed.

However, Just Dial has announced the launch of their new B2B platform JD Mart at the scheduled date, and there has been no news of any delay.

It seems Just Dial is all set to fight this lawsuit.

Just Dial Says Indiamart Indulges In Illegal Activities

As a counter attack, Just Dial has alleged that Indiamart indulges in illegal activities like copying entire webpages, and using them for their own business.

Just Dial said, “The Company would like to highlight the fact that Indiamart Intermesh Limited are themselves indulging in illegal activities in all possible manner by copying data/content of the Company, cybersquatting, etc. Presence of innumerable web pages on Indiamart Intermesh Limited’s live platforms, bearing the Company’s proprietary content and images bearing the Company’s watermark, has recently come to our notice. The Company is in the process of taking appropriate legal action to safeguard its interests from such malicious activities of Indiamart Intermesh Limited,”

This is a serious allegation against Indiamart, which is regarded as one of the oldest Internet companies in India, and the most powerful B2B platform.
