Vanish Mode On Messenger, Instagram Is Live

Facebook and Instagram has now rolled out the Vanish Mode of communication.

While Facebook’s Messenger will now have the Vanish Mode, Instagram’s chat feature will be loaded with this new feature.

What Is Vanish Mode?

Under the Vanish Mode, all text chats, emoji, pictures, GIFs, voice messages and stickers shared on the chat app will be automatically deleted, just like Snapchat.

Thus, the users can share the content with others, which will be deleted on its own.

This is same as Snapchat’s features, wherein the content shared is automatically deleted after a specific time period.

Alert For Screenshots

In the Vanish Mode setting, in case any user attempts to take a screenshot of any chat, then the other user will be alerted, and notified.

This is again a Snapchat feature.

In case any user reports any chat, then the messages and images/gifs shared will be available for an hour, only for the Facebook or Instagram to check.

Once the chat ends, all the messages shared in that chat will be automatically deleted.

Vanish Mode Is Opt In

Unlike Snapchat, wherein the messages and chats are deleted by default, the Vanish Mode is an opt-in feature. The users will need to activate the Vanish Mode, and then start chatting, in order to use its features.

Besides, the Vanish Mode can only be activated with friends.

On a broader level, there are many similarities between Messenger’s Secret Conversations features, wherein the messages are deleted, based on the parameters set by the users.

In the initial phase, Vanish Mode on Facebook messenger will start rolling out in U.S., Canada, Mexico, Peru and Bangladesh; whereas on Instagram, the Vanish Mode will start for users in Canada, Argentina, Chile, Peru and some other countries.

We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
