84,000 Bank Of Baroda Employees Will Get Counselling For Mental Well-Being

Amidst the ‘Work from Home’ period, employees are constantly under work pressure, with indefinite working hours and almost very little window left for personal space.

Consequently, many industry giants from different industry sectors like Information Technology, or FMCG, Hospitality, all have come forward to provide employee benefits to their workforces, amidst such difficult times.

These benefits vary from company to company, either in the form of additional leave days, or group health and well-being official support.

In a similar move, the public sector bank Bank of Baroda (BoB) has introduced such an employee benefit program, which will provide mental well-being help to its employees.

BoB Employee Assistance Program

The public sector bank introduced its employee well-being program, called the ‘Employee Assistance Program’ on Wednesday.

Under this, BoB will provide professional psychological counselling and consulting help to its employees facing personal problems at homes.

The public sector bank also informed that as of now, it has introduced this program as a pilot project in its Mumbai zone’s corporate offices.

This program will make use of technology extensively to connect different channels of psychological assistance, in conjunction with one-to-one counselling sessions with the help of EAP India Pvt Ltd.

Mental Assistance Provided to Employees 24/7, Claims BoB

According to the PSB’s FY2020 annual report, there are currently 84,000 employees working in the bank.

BoB’s General Manager (HRM), Prakash Vir Rathi says that about 60% of these employees are aged between 18 and 35 years.

He adds that they constantly face issues related to career goals, peer pressure and relationship problems, among others. “In such cases, expert counselling shall be of immense help in providing timely support to them for their emotional worries.”

Sanjiv Chadha, MD & CEO of BoB adds, 

“Workplace counselling assumes more significance in the present scenario where emotional aspects and stress has a substantial impact on the health of employees.

This counselling service offered by the Bank in tie-up with a specialised service provider is safe, non-judgmental, and highly confidential and is available to the employees and their family members 24/7.”
