In a twist of events, all international flights to and from a major Indian city has been stopped, till March, 2021.

Besides, domestic flights too have been reduced.

All International Flights Stopped From Chandigarh Till March, 2021

Chandigarh International Airport will not be allowed to fly any International flghts, and also no international flights will land on the airport.

No, this has nothing to do with coronavirus impact and lack of air bubbles.

But this is due to low visibility issues.

Why Chandigarh Has No International Flights Till March, 2021?

The primary reason is low visibility at the airport, during winters.

The winter schedule starts at Chandigarh International Airport from October 25th, and ends on March 31, every year.

During this period, due to low visibility, the international flights are stopped, and domestic flights are reduced.

Domesitc Flights Also Reduced

As per the latest notifications issued by DGCA, all domestic flights too have been reduced.

As of now, Chandigarh airport handles 36 domestic flights, which has now been reduced to just 29, as per the latest flight schedule shared by DGCA.

Note here, that the schedules flights are always notified in advance by DGCA, meanwhile non-scheduled flights and chartered flights can be allowed, based on the circumstances like medical emergency or any Govt related task.

Which Indian Cities Will Have International Flights 

As per the last circular by DGCA related to the non-scheduled International flights, only 6 cities can operate such flights: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

International flights to 17 nations are now open, under air bubble, from the major airports.

At the same time, India has opened up the air cargo option, from literally all airports. In case any company or nation wants to send air cargo, they can do so from any airport in India, which includes Chandigarh as well.
