If you were an avid follower/viewer of Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana, which was re-broadcasted from March 28 on Doordashan, then this news piece is going to bring a wave of excitement to you.

Amid the ongoing Navratri season, the national broadcaster Doordarshan is streaming the ‘Ayodhya Ki Ramleela’ play for the very first time, live from Laxman Qila in Ayodhya.

The live event will be covered everyday for 9 days of Navratri, from October 17 to October 25.

When and Where to Watch the Live Ramleela?

Doordarshan is streaming Ayodhya’s Ram Leela, live from Ayodhaya for 9 straight days of Navratri, until Oct 25.

The play will terminate on the tenth day, Vijay Dashmi with ‘Raavan Vadh’ by Shree Ram.

The play can be accessed both on television and on Youtube.

It airs on Doordarshan at 7 pm to 10 pm daily.

The live telecast will also be available in 14 languages, including Urdu across the country, during Dusshera celebration. 

1st Video of Live Event Crosses Multi Mill Views on Youtube

The live telecast of the grand Ramleela play on the banks of the Sarayu river is gaining multitudes of traction.

The first video on Doordarshan’s Youtube channel has already crossed a million views. 

Shashi S Vampati, CEO of Prasar Bharti has tweeted that the telecast has already crossed multi-million minutes of digital watching.

He also informed that about 40% of these digital viewers of Ayodhya’s Ramleela is accounted for by international audiences, involving maximum viewerships from USA, UAE, Saudi Arabia, UK, Canada and Nepal.

Grand Casting of Ramleela

Ayodhya’s Ramleela 2020 has seen participation from several Bollywood personalities.

The veteran actor Asrani is playing the role of Narad Muni, while Bindu Dara Singh will be seen as Lord Hanuman.

Bhojpuri superstars and current Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Ministers of Parliament (MPs) Ravi Kishan and Manoj Tiwari are also seen playing the roles of Bharat and Angad, respectively.

Actor Raza Murad will play the role of Ahiravan, while Shahbaz Khan will play the iconic Ravan, on stage.

Organising Panel

The live streaming and broadcast is organised by My Mother Foundation and Ram’s Ramlila Committee in collaboration with the tourism and cultural department of the Uttar Pradesh government.

The event’s live telecast was  launched by Neelkanth Tiwari, Tourism, Culture, Religious Affairs Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma, MP Uttar Pradesh.
