US Govt has decided to increase the premium processing of H1B via by 73%, for all applicants.

This increase in the premium processing fee will be applicable from October 19th, 2020 that is Monday.

H1B Visa Premium Processing Fees Increased 

Earlier, H1B visa’s premium processing fee was charged at $1440, which has now increased to $2500, which is an increase of 73%.

This will be implemented by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) from Octover 19th onwards.

Earlier, President Trump had signed the crucial Bill: HR 8337, which allowed USCIS to hike H1B visa charges, along with premium processng fees.

With premium processing, applicants can get the H1B visa faster, within 15 days, compared to over a month’s time required to get H1B visa normally.

In their announcement via blot, USCIS has also shared few exceptions for this hike in premium processing fee, which is applicable to certain categories of H1B visa application.

Why US Govt Increased Premium Processing Fees For H1B Visa

Besides generating more revenues from the fees hike, USCIS has been allowed by US Govt to cover more categories of work visas, under premium processing.

Hence, more than 10 types of work visas can be now processed faster, under premium processing, and there shall be a flat charge of $2500 for all these visa processings.

However, as of now, USCIS hasn’t informed which different types of work visas are included in the premium processing, and of now, only H1B visa is covered,

USCIS said, “Pub. L. No. 116-159 also gives USCIS the ability to expand premium processing to additional forms and benefit requests, but USCIS is not yet taking that action. Any expansion of premium processing to other forms will be implemented as provided in the legislation.”
