While talking about this Big Billion Days, Flipkart said that out of his 3 lakh sellers family, 60% of the sale is coming from Tier 2 and beyond, further enabling festive cheers to 250mn + consumers across India, on Sunday.

Big Billion Day Highlights

The Big Billions Days has a history to meet Indian consumers demand as the sale is fuelled by affordability and value purchasing.

Online shopping has become the ‘new normal’ these days and with the arrival of festival season, it has a greater importance now since window shopping is not in picture these days.

People are not only worried about the spread of the COVID-19 disease but also the prices are skyrocketing due to financial pressure on traders.

During such times, the arrival of these  kinds of sales is definitely a breath of relief for common man.

But this year’s sale in itself holds a great importance as the whole retail ecosystem came  together this time to form partnerships.

From Kiranas to MSMEs  and brands  brought a uniquely inclusive event for the country which is celebrated as – ‘The Big Billion Days’.

Huge Response From Local MSMEs

This time, there is a remarkable participation of 60% of them coming from Tier 2 cities and beyond from local MSMEs, marketplace sellers, artisans and weavers.

This year, seller base reach has expanded by 20% concluding to 3000+ pincodes.

According to Flipkart, marketplace sellers have witnessed a growth in just 2 days of TBBD 2020 that they earlier saw during the 6 days of TBBD 2019.

This displays the pent up demand that companies have seen from consumers across India.

Further, this shows the support to the safe supply chain & robust SOPs of Flipkart logistics.

The company said that over 70+ sellers become Crorepatis and ~10,000 become Lakhpati through Early Access and the three days of TBBD 2020.

What Is In Demand?

While talking about the demand, Flipkart said that essential products remain to be in demand.

Since consumers across the country are taking necessary precautions to safeguard themselves and their families against COVID-19.

On the other hand, sellers from the household products personal care category continue to see a day-on-day growth.

In case of Flipkart Wholesale,  the digital B2B marketplace of the Flipkart Group and the Best Price Stores joined TBBD ecosystem this year to bring in great value for retailers and kiranas while preparing for the festive season.
