Get Confirmed Train Tickets 5 Minutes Before Departure Of Train: How It Helps You?

In a major relief for all train passengers in the post-Covid era, Indian Railways has allowed booking and cancellation of tickets till 5 minutes before departure of the train.

Book Or Cancel Tickets 5 Minutes Before Departure

As was the system before coronavirus and lockdown, Indian Railways has now resumed preparation of reservation charts just 5 minutes before the departure of the train.

While the 1st reservation chart will be prepared 4 hours before the departure of the train, the 1nd reservation chart will be prepared between 30 minutes to 5 minutes before departure of the train.

This means, that passengers can book or cancel tickets 5 minutes prior to the departure, and this changes everything.

This new rule of preparing reservation charts till 5 minutes before the departure of the train will be implemented from October 10th, and will be applicable for all special trains being run by Indian Railways, along with Tejas Express, which will start from October 17th.

How Will It Help Passengers?

Assume that you have a train ticket, which is wait-listed for Train A, and there is another Train B, which is going in the same direction, at the same time.

Now, after the 1st reservation chart has been prepared for Train A, and you find that your ticket is still waitlisted.

At this point of time, you can simply cancel the ticket and book new ticket for Train B.

Now say, 30 minutes before the departure of Train A, the 2nd reservation chart is prepared, and your ticket is still wait-listed.

In this case as well, you can cancel your ticket for Train A, and book a new ticket for Train B, in case there is availability.

Such late chart preparation gives the passengers more options, and more choices for booking train tickets, and ensuring that a confirmed berth is obtained.
