This State Has 33% Of All Fake Universities In India; Delhi Has 29% (Full List Of Fake Universities)

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has announced the annual list of fake universities in India, and there are some shocking results.

One single state: Uttar Pradesh has whooping 33% of all fake universities in India, whereas India’s national capital: New Delhi has 29% of all fake universities.

UGC: There Are 24 Fake Universities In India

As per UGC’s latest list of fake universities, there are 24 such self-styled, unrecognized univertisies in India right now.

Last year, UGC has announced list of 23 such fake universities, which has now increased to 24.

As per UGC, these fake and self-styled universities have no legal standing, and their degrees issued are not valid anywhere in India or abroad.

Issuing a warning and alert for all students, UGC Secretary Rajnish Jain said, “Students and public are informed that currently 24 self-styled, unrecognised institutions are functioning in contravention of the UGC Act, which have been declared as fake universities and these are not empowered to confer any degree,” 

These Universities are fake and discredited based on UGC Act, 1956.

UP Has 33% Of All Fake Universities

The state of Uttar Pradesh has total of 8 fake Universities, which is 33% of entire list.

Home to iconic educational institutions such as IIT, IIM, and more, this is indeed shocking.

But more shocking is that India’s national capital: New Dehi has 7 fake universities, which is 29% of the list.

Odisha and West Bengal has 2 fake universities each.

Under Section 23 of the UGC Act, an unrecognized educational institution is prohibuted from using the term ‘University’.
