Microsoft Work Trend Report: One-Third Employees From India Report Increased Stress, Burnout

As per the Microsoft Work Trend Index report, more than 41% of the entire employee headcount in India has noted an increase in their stress levels because of there being no boundaries between their personal and professional lives. The increase in stress levels is also due to increased communication with colleagues.

Samik Roy, Country Head, Modern Work, Microsoft India said, “As businesses adapt to a new way of working, it is important to examine the multifaceted impact that the new working conditions are having on employees. This is helping us provide relevant and timely solutions to all our customers and users.”

As per the report, the fear of being infected with the Coronavirus also plays a huge role in the addition of stress.

Employees in India are not very far away from the notorious ‘burnout’ situation due to this work from home model.

The report states that one third of the workers in India have noted an increase in the rate of burnout over the last six months.

Average Working Hours Increased; No Personal Time For Employees

The survey was conducted across 6000 workers from eight counties, which included India, Singapore, Australia, and Japan.

The workers in India have the second highest percentage of workers that have reported an increased burnout. As many as 23% workers have stated that there are too many meetings and the focus time is not enough, which adds to the stress of working from home.

The Teams data by Microsoft suggests that people are now attending many more meetings on a daily basis and official chats have been observed between 5 pm and 9 pm, which is quite after the office hours.

Also, the workday for employees has increased by an average of 1 hour since the work from home model has been adopted.
