Amazon India has announced that it will now be setting up 200 new delivery stations across India. This comes just days ahead of the festive season in India.

Recently, Flipkart too expanded its operations in order to be ready and prepared for the festive season.

Amazon Sets Up 200 New Delivery Stations Across India Ahead Of Festive Season

Amazon India has now established 200 new delivery stations throughout India looking to enhance its reach to the smaller towns and remote areas of the country which have an increased number of buyers resorting to online shopping due to the pandemic and the lockdown. These new delivery stations are both owned and third party operated. 

Amazon has said that its investments in delivery infrastructure will create an employment opportunity for tens of thousands of workers. However, the company has not shared any specific details. 

Delivery stations are a part of the last mile logistics that are acquired by online ecommerce behemoths.

“With these infrastructure investments, it will deepen our reach in the country and at the same time we will be able to improve the speed to the customer,” said Prakash Rochlani, Director, Last Mile Operations at Amazon India. 

Amazon To Create More Jobs At Delivery Station; 70,000 Job Creation Promised Previously

He said that they are now able to offer thousands of employment opportunities due to this infrastructure investment which also aligns with the government vision of job creation and imparting skills to the youth. 

We all know that Amazon had promised a creation of 70,000 new jobs of which, 50,000 were in the supply chain and 20,000 in customer service. 

This expansion of the delivery network by Amazon is a part of its yearly focus on installing warehousing, sorting, and other infrastructure in order to manage the increased demands that the company faces during the festive season.

Some of the new 200 centres will be located in Champhai, Kolasib, Lumding and Mokokchung, which are small towns in the Northeast of India.
