Flipkart Wholesale has announced its plans of expanding its operations to 12 new cities, ahead of the festive season.

Flipkart Wholesale To Extend Operations To 12 New Cities In India

Flipkart Wholesale is the digital B2B marketplace of the Walmart-owned Flipkart Group was launched in July, but the official services began last month. Flipkart has now announced the expansion of its Wholesale operations to 12 new cities in India. 

The cities in which Flipkart Wholesale will operate are Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Mysore, Chandigarh Tricity, Meerut, Agra, Jaipur, Thane-Bhiwandi-Ulhasnagar, Greater Mumbai, Vasai-Virar-Mira-Bhayanadar, Thane (Kalyan-Dombivli), and Thane (Navi Mumbai).

The expansion of Flipkart Wholesale to new cities comes just some time ahead of the upcoming festive season, during which the sales of the online e-commerce companies are expected to be through the roof.

The expansion of this wholesale arm of Flipkart will present a one-stop digital marketplace solution for the retail ecosystem.

Flipkart Wholesale Limited To Fashion Vertical; Will Expand To Home, Kitchen, Grocery Soon

However, as of now, the company is limiting itself to the fashion categories only. The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected the sale of garments, but now that the festive season in India is right around the corner, Flipkart is probably expecting a hike in the sale. This justifies the expansion of Flipkart to the new cities. 

Adarsh Menon, Senior Vice President and Head of Flipkart Wholesale said, “From trendy Jaipuri kurtis to evergreen Mysore silk saris, we aim to help small businesses embrace the digital transformation and emerge as more robust businesses.”

In a statement issued by the online e-commerce behemoth, he also said that the company is excited that the initiative will be contributing to boost the businesses of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), kiranas. Also, it will be creating lakhs of new and exciting livelihood opportunities in India.”

As per reports, Flipkart Wholesale also has plans of expanding into some different categories such as home and kitchen and grocery as well.
