You would be amazed to know that not all the Aadhar cards are genuine.
The same is informed by the IT ministry in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday saying over 40,955 fraudulent Aadhaar numbers have been discovered and canceled as of August 31, 2020.

How Did This Happen?
This truth was revealed when IT Minister of State Sanjay Dhotre was answering a question asked by Binoy Viswam of the Communist Party of India (CPI), as he wanted to know if the ministry had found any fraudulent Aadhaar cards.
Further, the ministry has informed about the discovery of more than 40,000 fraudulent numbers, which further raised the questions about the security of the Aadhaar ecosystem.
How Are These fraudulent Aadhaar Numbers Being Created?
Now it is quite common that fraudulent Aadhaar cards can be created either by forgery or through falsification of documents according to the information gathered from media reports and published research
Prior to this, the independent researchers Anmol Somanchi and Vipul Paikra had compiled a database of over 73 incidents of misuse of Aadhaar cards reported in English media In 2018.
In which, over 52 cases involved the fake or forged Aadhaar numbers.
Fraudulent Aadhaar Number Uses
Moreover, these fraudulent Aadhaars are further being used in siphoning ration grains or carrying out land transfers.
In some cases, they are being used in procuring passports, and also getting loans, among other things.
Further Somnachi said that when they had included Hindi reports, they had found more such incidents.
So their database consists of 164 incidents In total which are reported since 2011, out of that, 52 involved in forgery.
Aadhar No Deactivation
Now with the latest updates, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has deactivated 38.16 lakh Aadhaar numbers as of August 31, 2020.
While giving the reason behind it, they said that on account of bad or incomplete data under the 2016 regulations for Aadhaar enrolment they have deactivated them.
An Aadhaar can be deactivated if an existing photograph is used instead of capturing an image during enrolment if Aadhaar has been created without valid documents, and so on according to Rule 28.
