Infosys Co-Founder Says Work From Home Will End Soon; Suggests Salary Cap For CEOs

Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy is once again in news, for this opinionated, and controversial interview.

He has said that CEOs are paid too much, and their salaries and remuneration should be capped.

Besides, he has also said that work from home is not  permanent solution, and it seems that he doesn’t like it.

Narayana Murthy: CEOs Paid Too Much; Slash Their Salaries

While speaking at the 47th National Management Convention (NMC) of All India Management Association (AIMA), Infosys Co-foudner and veteran of IT industry Narayana Murthy has expressed his displeasure over the high salary packages of CEOs in India.

He has said that the huge margin in the salaries of an average employee, and the CEO, Board Members and other higher management is a matter of concern.

As per him, if the minimum salary of an employee in any company is Rs 2-3 lakh per year, then the CEO of that company should have a maximum salasry of Rs 70-80 lakh.

He also said that scams in any corporate environment happens when the CEO become more powerful than the Board Members.

He has suggested way to ‘control’ CEOs and slashing their salaries, depending on the salary of the lowest earning member of the company.

Will corporate India, especially IT firms accept these suggestion?

We doubt!

Work From Home Not Productive

In the interview, Narayana Murthy also said that the work from home setup is not productive, and it’s a short term solution for a big problem like coronavirus pandemic.

He said, “I believe the office is the place to work, home is the place to spend time with your loved ones. Mixing the two is not a good idea on a long-term basis. Yeah, I understand that there is no alternative therefore, we have adapted. But this should be a short-term solution.”

Since several companies like TCS and Wipro, including Infosys has declared work from home as a permanent solution and a long-term strategy, Narayan Murthy’s statements is bound to raise eye-brows.

We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
