98% Wipro Staff Working From Home, But Wipro Chief Wants Them At Office! Why?

As you are reading this story, around 98% of Wipro employees are working from home right now.

Out of 1.85 lakh Wipro employees, only 3000 are working from office.

But, things can change.

As per a recent interview, it has come to light that Wipro Chairman wants all employees to come back to office.

But why?

Wipro Chairman: Employees Should Work From Office

Rishad Premji, who is the son of Wipro Founder Azim Premji has said that although 98% of Wipro employees are working from home, he hopes that these employees return to office, and work from there.

He was speaking with Chiratae Ventures founder and chairman Sudhir Sethi on VC funding, and corporate practices in India.

He expressed his wish that employees should be able to come to office and work, and not work from home.

He said, “Equally, I personally am of the view that we want people to come back, so we will never have anybody working from home all of the time. Equally, we would have all of our people working from home some of the time,”

But Why?

As per Rishad, the company culture is built when employees come to office and work, and not while working from home.

And in order to build a company culture, it’s important that employees interact and mingle, share ideas and dreams.

Any company can grow only when there is an inherent culture around it.

He said, “We want people to come back to build culture, right? I’m spending a lot of time personally, over the last six months on culture. And the reality is culture grows by osmosis. Culture grows by people engaging at the ward coffee machine, or the water cooler, gossiping about the organization, exchanging notes.”

Will Wipro Ask Employees To Come To Office?

No, not as of now.

As per Rishad, their clients have been very helpful in managing work and the pandemic, and the status quo will be maintained.

As per reports, Wipro won’t ask their employees to return to office and work till year end, at the least.

So, Wipro employees can relax and work from home for timebeing.

We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
