Flipkart On-Boards 50,000 Kirana Stores

For faster deliveries during the Big Billion Day Sales, Flipkart has on-boarded 50,000 kirana store owners into their network.

Last year, Flipkart had on-boarded 25,000 kirana store owners into their network, and this year, the count has doubled.

By including more and more kirana store owners, Walmart-owned Flipkart will be able to showcase more offers, more products, and the last-mile delivery will become faster.

Flipkart’s Wholesale Plans With Kirana Stores

Besides the Big Billion Day sales program, the on-boarding of Kirana Stores into their network will also help Flipkart to expand their wholesale business.

Flipkart has recently acquired Walmart’s B2B ecommerce business in India. After this acquisition, Flipkart now controls 28 Best Price Cash and Carry Stores, which were earlier managed by Walmart.

This way, Flipkart now has access to 1.5 million kiranas, horecas, and other MSMEs.

Flipkart said, “The Kirana programme is part of Flipkart Group’s efforts to drive growth for millions of kiranas across the country. This also includes Flipkart Wholesale with an aim to connect local manufacturers and MSMEs with retailers and other businesses,”

How Is Flipkart Helping Kirana Store Owners?

All kirana store owners who have recently joined Flipkart are being provided with training and assistance for their digital transformation. They are being taught how to monitor their sales via apps, and how to manage digital payments seamlessly.

Since Flipkart has now expanded into Tier 3 cities like Tinsukia in Assam, Agartala in Tripura and Kannur in Kerala, Flipkart is all set to make their annual sales extravaganza even bigger.

All eyes now set on Amazon to reveal their own plans for the festive season.
