National transporter Indian Railways has announced that they will now be conducting the first stage of computer based exams from 15 December 2020.

Indian Railways To Conduct Computer Based Test On December 15 

The first stage of the computer based exams, Computer Based Test (CBT)  for the posts at the Indian Railways will begin on 15 December 2020, as confirmed by the Railway Board Chairman Vin K Yadav. There is a vacancy of 1.40 lakh posts with the national transporter. 

He said, “The computer-based exams will begin from December 15 for the three categories of posts and a detailed schedule will be announced very soon.”

The Union  Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has also announced the dates of the exam on Twitter.

The Indian Railways has decided to conduct this exam after the Centre ruled that the NEET (UG) and JEE (Mains) 2020 examinations would take place as scheduled. The ministry said that after the experience of conducting these exams, the Indian Railways’ examinations can also be conducted in a similar manner. 

The transporter is looking forward to the process of recruiting candidates, a process that was halted due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown imposed, therefore.

Three Categories Of Vacancies: 1.40 Lakh Job Posts To Be Filled

As per the Indian Railways, there are three categories of the post vacancies. These include 35208 posts in the non-technical popular categories (NTPC) such as guards, office clerks, commercial clerks, and others. Then there are 1663 posts for isolated and ministerial categories such as steno and teachers, whereas there are 1,03,769 vacancies for level one posts such as track maintainers and pointsman.

As per reports, the above vacancies have attracted as much as 2.40 crore applications by the Railway Recruitment Board. 

The SOPs that will be ensured during the examination process is being developed. Social distancing and other protocols that are crucial to ensure that the disease isn’t being spread further will be followed strictly during the examination.
