Mumbai is prominently known for the local trains that people rely on for traveling within the city. Almost the entire population of the city depends on the local trains for transportation within the city.
However, the current COVID-19 pandemic that the and the entire world is fighting against did not spare the city and its local trains.
But here is a good news – there is a possibility that the Mumbai local trains will restart from September 1st.
Mumbai Locals To Restart From September 1; Cabinet Meeting To Decide
A media report has stated that the local trains in Mumbai may restart its operations from September 1st.
The operations of the Indian Railways network including the Mumbai locals have been suspended due to the lockdown that was necessary to restrict the spreading of the dangerous coronavirus disease.
Even food and other styles were not allowed to open at the railway station with the Railway Protection Force being employed to ensure that strict social distance and norms are being followed.
From June 14, some specific number of Suburban trains resumed their operations in the Mumbai metropolitan region but this is is not very helpful to all the people of Mumbai; it is good only for passengers who are engaged in an essential service. The list of essential services does not include bank employees or media persons. More than 125000 employees are a part of the essential services of the state government.
According to sources, a cabinet meeting has been scheduled on Wednesday, August 26 in which discussions about relaxation of lockdown will be conducted.
Guidelines About Lockdown Relaxation To be Released Soon
As much as 8.5 million passengers traveled through the local trains on a daily basis across Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad.
The government has recently permitted accredited journalists to use the Suburban trains for traveling by using a QR code. also new guidelines are most likely to be released by the Ministry of Home affairs on August 31.
These guidelines most probably talk about Delhi metro network reopening. However, the reopening of schools colleges universities and cinema halls may not be allowed to be opened even after August 31.
