Republic Bharat Beats Aaj Tak To Become India’s #1 Hindi News Channel Within A Year

In an overwhelming feat, Republic Bharat just over a year old, launched in February 2019 has surpassed many TV channels who have been on the air for quite a long time now. 

Republic Bharat has become the most-watched Hindi news channel in India, as per Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) ratings for Week 32 of 2020 (August 8 to 14).

According to BARC latest weekly data,

The data revealed that the other 8 tv channels have single-digit ratings. 

Republic TV, the English counterpart, has continued its 171-week Number 1 run by garnering a 52% viewership.

This means that it was more watched than all the other channels in the space combined.

What Caused This?

This achievement of the Republic Bharat as number 1 Hindi news channel can be cited to its dominance in prime-time. 

In the 6 pm time slot, Republic Bharat’s Mahabharat leads with a 16.96% viewership.

Whereas in the 7 pm time slot, Poochta Hai Bharat anchored by Arnab Goswami is the most-watched show 22.86% viewership.

Moreover, the sting operations carried out by Republic Media Network in the Sushant Singh Rajput case can be credited to the much-awaited success of both channels owned by the media house.
