As revealed by the Minister for Aviation, the sixth phase of the Vande Bharat Mission is all set to begin from September 1 and will continue till October 24.

Vande Bharat Mission’s 6th Phase Set To Start From September

After the fifth phase of the Vande Bharat Mission concludes on August 31, the sixth phase will commence from Septmber 1 and will end on October 24. This was confirmed by the Minister for Civil Aviation, Hardeep Singh Puri.

In this phase of the mission, additional flights will operate to connect to several destinations that haven’t been served till now.

He said, “More flights and destinations being added to VBM to further widen the geographic reach of the mission in its current phase and in Phase – 6 from September 1 to October 24, 2020. Our endeavour is to reach out to every stranded and distressed Indian citizen around the world.”

As per reports, about 145 flights will be scheduled by Air India that will fly between India and the USA under the sixth phase of the VBM. More destinations will be added in order to reach more places geographically.

Air Bubbles Established And Additional Airlines To Operate Between India US

As the international commercial operation of flights hasn’t been resumed in India due to the rising cases of the Coronavirus and other restrictions, bilateral air bubbles have been instated with several countries, such as the USA, France, and Germany. 

The Civil Aviation Ministry has revealed that since the Vande Bharat Mission was kickstarted, about 3644 repatriation flights have been operated with the help of Air India. These flights have carried about 4.82 lakh passengers, of which, 1825 were inbound flights that carried 3,36,436 passengers and 1,819 outbound flights with 1,46,052 passengers.

Officials have also revealed that India has established air bubbles with multiple countries, including US, Canada, Qatar, Oman, the UAE, Singapore, the UK, Frankfurt, Paris, Saudi Arabia, New Zealand, Philippines. They have also confirmed that some more countries would be added to the list.

As per reports, Emirates Airlines and Lufthansa flights have also resumed operations under the sixth phase of VBM, along with Air India and United Airlines flights between the US and India. Also, Virgin Atlantic is also set to join the wagon in September.
