Airport-Type Check-In At All Railway Stations

Indian Railways will now enforce airport-type check-in of passengers, across all the railway stations. One such pilot process is already underway at Allahabad (Prayagraj) Railways station, wherein the entire process of ticket checking will be contact-less, with maximum emphasis on social distancing.

QR Code Based Tickets For All Passengers

The process of airport-type check-in stars with the ticket issuance process.

While buying tickets online, a QR code will be now provided, and if the tickets are booked via counter, then the passenger will receive the QR Code via SMS. Once the link is clicked, the QR Code will appear.

QR Code Will Be Checked For All Passengers

As soon as the passenger enters the railway station, the QR Code of the ticket will be checked at the entrance. This will help the Railways to monitor when the passenger enters the station.

Thermal screening will also be done at the entrance only, and the data will be stored for that passenger.

This scanning of the QR Code will be done via mobile application and hand-held device.

Information Is Shared With All

As soon as the passenger’s QR code is checked at the entrance of the station, the information is shared with all the personals, especially the TTE or Travelling Ticket Examiner of the train.

Besides the security team and health team monitoring the railway station will also get the information.

TTE Will Have Hand-Held Device For Checking Tickets

TTE on all the trains will now have a hand-held device to scan the QR code of the ticket. As soon as the QR Code is scanned the TTE will have all the information about the ticket and the passenger, and the entire process will be contact-less.

Besides, every train will have GPS devices to track the movement, and for this, a special partnership between Indian Railways and ISRO has been confirmed.
