Why A New Edition?

As we know that Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 is an entry-level hatchback which is also one of the highest-selling cars in the entire Indian market that position is held by this model for quite a long time now.

But with the changing markets and rising competitions, it has started to feel a little outdated for some time.

Here it is noteworthy that the current-gen Alto was launched back in 2012, and since then it has received only one facelift.

Hence, it seems like a good idea to have a new edition so, the carmaker is working on launching a new 800 cc car in the Indian market soon as a replacement for the Alto 800.

Further, it is also expected that Maruti Suzuki may go ahead and name the 800 cc car after the iconic ‘Maruti 800’ as it will help a lot of people in evoking their memories of the past.

As Maruti 800 cc is heading towards the confirmation of the new car’s launch, let’s go through a list of things that you should know about this legendary model.

1. Powertrain With AMT Gearbox

It is expected the new-gen Alto 800 may have the same 796 cc, 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that is available with the current-gen Alto.

This engine generates 48 PS of maximum power along with 69 Nm of peak torque.

Currently, Alto 800 comes with a 5-speed manual transmission only, while the new 800 CC will likely be offered with an optional AMT gearbox, to help in attracting even more buyers.

2. Platform And Design

The new 800 cc car is expected to be built on the same Heartect-K platform which also underpins the S-Presso.

But unlike the low-slung Alto 800 in line to replace, the new 800 cc car is supposed to be styled more like a crossover.

3. Latest Features

The model is expected to be offered with the latest features including the latest version of Maruti Suzuki’s Smartplay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, power windows, LED DRLs, wheel caps, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors etc.

4. Price & Competition

The new 800 cc car is likely to be priced as Rs 3 – 3.5 lakh onwards and will compete with rival the such as Renault Kwid, as well as the Datsun redi-GO in the Indian market.

5. Expected Launch Date

The Alto 800’s successor is expected to be launch in the Indian market around next year.

Although, the carmaker is yet to confirm the news of the upcoming model as well as its launch date.
