After a gap of 4 months, booking of international tickets has been allowed on private travel portals now.
This is a big move, to help passengers seamlessly book tickets, and board their flights.
But, there are challenges.

Major travel apps and websites have now opened their bookings for international flights.
After 4 months of travel booking ban, private travel apps and websites have been allowed to take the bookings.
Ever since Vande Bharat mission started to bring in overseas Indians back to their home, and to carry stranded NRIs, foreigners to US, Europe, UAE and Australia, ticket bookings were allowed only on Air India website or the embassy of that country.
But now, just like pre-Covid era, international tickets can be booked via private travel oeprators as well.

Most of these portals and apps have run special flight tickets and offers to help the passengers. For instance, MakeMyTrip is running special offers for flights to US by Air India, Air France, Lufthansa and United Airlines.
Mainly, international flights have been resumed for US, France, Germany as part of the bilateral bubble between India and those nations.
However, some flights for UAE, Singapore and London too have started, from selected cities.
Ixigo said, “International and Indian airlines flying limited schedules to West Asia sectors including the Emirates, Etihad, Fly Dubai Air India Express are also available to book on our platform,”
But Challenges Exist
Although the bookings have opened, but challenges exist for the travel portals, since there is ambiguity about the rules and regulations, and the flight details.
Private travel portals and apps are doing their best to bring the most latest information to the passengers, for their hassle-free travel experience.
As per Cleartrip’s Global Head for the Air Business, Balu Ramachandran, “There are two important aspects from a customer’s stand-point. One is availability of information such as regulations at airports, inside aircraft and quarantine norms. The second aspect is providing flexibility with their travel plans because airfares are prohibitive and rescheduling and cancelling tickets is expensive,”
