Air India Starts 180 Flights Between India & US; Fares Reduced To Rs 50,000 (Routes, Dates & More)

On July 17, Air India announced that it is adding 180 flights on the India-US route as a part of the phase 4 of the Vande Bharat mission.

The India-US Air Bubble

In the press conference on July 17, the civil aviation ministry announced bilateral air bubbles with the US.

Consequently, United Airlines, the American carrier, is permitted to fly into Delhi. 

It will operate 18 flights between Delhi and Newark, San Francisco from July 17 toJuly 31. Additionally, unlike previous restrictions, United Airlines has the permit to carry India-bound passengers.

Air India Adds Flights On India-US Route!

The Air India repatriation flights will operate between July 22 and July 31, 2020 and will connect Mumbai and Delhi with New York, Chicago, Newark, San Francisco, and Washington DC.

These are both way flights. The passengers coming from the US can further proceed to Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kochi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad. 

That’s not all folks! 

The fares have been reduced too. During phase 1 to phase 3 of the mega mission, Air India had charged every passenger a minimum amount of Rs 1,00,000 for one-way travel. 

After retaliation from many passengers about high rates, during phase 4 the prices were slashed to Rs 75,000.

However, now the prices have further dropped to Rs 50,000. 

The Schedule Of the Air India India-US Flights

Here is the schedule of the Air India flights:

  1. AI 103: Delhi – Washington DC 
  2. AI 191: Mumbai – Newark 
  3. AI 127: Chennai – Hyderabad – Delhi – Chicago 
  4. AI 173: Bengaluru – Kochi – Delhi – San Francisco 
  5. AI 101: Mumbai – Ahmedabad – Delhi – New York 

The AI 191, AI 127 and AI 101 are operating daily whereas Delhi-Washington is operating thrice weekly and Bengaluru – Kochi – Delhi – San Francisco is operating 6 times weekly.
