India’s leading IT company Wipro has declared that not even a single employee will be fired in India, due to coronavirus impact.
This is indeed a massive morale booster for all Wipro employees, who are counting on their employer for supporting them during this pandemic.
Wipro: We Will Not Fire Even A Single Employees
During Wipro’s 74th annual general meeting (AGM), Wipro chairman Rishad Premji has declared that their company will not fire even a single employee in India, due to the coronavirus impact and business slowdown.
Rishad said that as of now, they have not fired any employees, and wont fire any employees in the future as well.
He informed the shareholders that they are looking at other ways to bring down their expenditure, and this mainly includes operational maneuvers and operational means.
95% Employees Working From Home
Rishad Premji informed all stakeholders that as of now, 95% of their employees are working from home, and the trend will continue to some time.
However, a hybrid model is being planned for all the employees, and wherein both work from home and work from office will be included for smooth efficiency.
A definitive model will be announced in the next 12-18 months.
He said, “We may move to a balance between work from home and work from office. The model will evolve in next 12-18 months,”
Wipro Unaffected By H1B Visa Ban
On the question of H1B visa ban by US Govt., Rishad said that it was really unfortunate, but they have minimized the risk to a larger extent, by reducing their dependency on H1B visa, as 70% of their American employees are locally hired.
59% of their business came from the US.
As of now, Wipro has 1.88 lakh employees, and out of that, around 41,000 are outside India.
