TCS has confirmed that the on-boarding process for freshers will kickstart from mid-July. This will provide more clarity to the freshers, who were desperately waiting for the on-boarding process to start.

Lateral hiring will also start, albeit in some selected skills and technologies. 

Meanwhile, TCS has announced 14% drop in profits for the June-quarter, but are confident of the European market picking up steam.

TCS Freshers Will Be On-Boarded From Mid-July

TCS has confirmed that freshers will be asked to join the company from mid-July. 

TCS had already promised that they will honor job offers rolled out to 40,000 freshers, and from mid-July, the on-boarding process will kickstart.

These are the freshers who have been hired from campus interviews, walk-ins and via consultancies.

Milind Lakkad, EVP and Global Head, Human Resources, TCS confirmed this development, and he explained the reason for the delay to the shift in academic year.

He said, “The process was delayed because of their academic year got delayed.”

This is indeed great news for all freshers who had received the offer letter from TCS, but were waiting for the confirmation from the company for the joining date.

Lateral Hiring Starts For These Skills

Meanwhile TCS has also announced that the lateral hiring process will now kickstart for some selected skills, starting mid-July.

Note here, that due to coronavirus pandemic and lockdown, all lateral hiring was frozen.

This has been confirmed by TCS CEO Rajesh Gopinathan.

As per the reports coming in, this lateral hiring wil kickstart in emerging and in-demand skills such cloud computing and cloud migration.

The exact number of lateral hiring has not been revealed as of now.

Meanwhile, TCS has reported 13.8% drop in profits in the June quarter, compared to last quarter.

While TCS made profits of Rs 8131 crore in June quarter last year, this year they managed to churn out Rs 7008 crore profit, which is a drop of 5%.

Revenues stood at Rs 38,322 crore, which is a drop of 6.3% compared to last year, for the same period.
