In order to stop ATM frauds, and to enable safety for their customers against ATM frauds, SBI has introduced ATM-less cash withdrawal from their ATMs.
This was launched earlier this year, and has proved to be an effective way to withdraw cash, without using ATM.
This is how it works..
SBI Customers: Withdraw Cash Without Using ATM
This is known as OTP based cash withdrawal from the ATM, and using this method, SBI customers can withdraw cash from an SBI Atm without any hassles.
Since their debit cards won’t be used at the ATMs, there is no risk of any ATM fraud and their card remains safe, while they get the cash.
This facility to withdraw cash at SBI ATMs without using any debit card Pin is available for any cash withdrawals till Rs 10,000, and there is a time limit as well: Between 8AM to 8PM.
Besides the OTP, the SBI customers will also need their debit card PIN to avail this unique facility.
Debit Card-Less ATM Withdrawal: How It Works?
After entering any SBI ATM between 8AM to 8PM, the customer needs to enter their registered mobile number and the amount they need to withdraw.
Based on that, an OTP is shared with them, and a screen will open which will ask for that.
Once the OTP is entered, the cash is given out, without using any debit card.
This OTP is valid only for single-transaction, and the cash will be provided based on the inputs provided. If you want to withdraw cash for some other amount, then a new OTP needs to be provided.
Hence, the option to enter cash and mobile number is provided only once, and the cash withdrawal happens based on that only.
For cash withdrawls of more than Rs 10,000, and between 8PM and 8AM, the debit card pin also needs to be entered.
This facility is only provided at SBI ATMs, and there are overall 8 free ATM withdrawals for a saving account holder: 5 in SBI ATMs, and 3 at non-SBI ATMs.
Customers in non-metro get 10 free ATM withdrawals: 5 at SBI ATMs and 5 at non-SBI ATMs.
