IT major Amdocs has decided to fire 1000 employees amidst global slowdown in business due to the coronavirus impact.

This has been revealed by an Israeli portal.

Amdocs Is Firing 1000 Employees

As per Israeli news portal Calcalist, Amdocs is firing 1000 employees, globally.

The US-based IT software and communications service provider generates around $1 billion in quarterly revenues, and most of their business comes from the US, where they are facing slowdown.

The firing is being done as a direct result of the slowdown, as per the news portal.

There has been no confirmation from Amdocs.

Will India Get Impacted?

Globally, Amdocs employs 25,000 employees, and out of them, 10,000 are in India.

Although no confirmation has been provided, but it seems that Indian employees will be impacted.

However, out of their $1 billion quarterly revenues, $691 million was generated from the US, where they employ maximum number of employees as well.

Firing In India Has Already Started At Amdocs

In the month of March, Amdocs had confirmed that as part of their restructuring program, they will train 5000 employees in India, mainly those who are into the Cloud technologies.

Amdocs had said, “As a global corporation with tens of thousands of employees, Amdocs is continually making the necessary adjustments in its expenses while strategically assessing its workforce and adapting to the changing business needs,”

However, In April, Amdocs fired around 150 employees in Pune, during the lockdown.

This move was criticized by the employees and NITES, a nonprofit for IT employees even lodged a complaint with the Labor Commissioner, and a notice was issued.

We dont have any news whether the recent layoff of 1000 employees by Amdocs will impact Indian employees or not.
