US Govt Stops Focussing On College Degree While Hiring; Job Skills Is More Important Now
In a big move, US Govt. will stop focussing on the candidate’s college degree while hiring them. Their job skills are more important now.
But which jobs under US Govt will be impacted here?
US Govt Will Focus On Skills, Not College Degree
US Govt has announced a major overhaul in their internal recruitment process.
Instead of the focus on college degree, and the weight of the college/institution from where the candidate graduates, the focus will be now on the job skills of the candidates.
This is indeed a big shift in focus for recruiters in the US, and soon, this can become a trend worldwide.
During American Workforce Policy Advisory Board Meeting, President Trump said, “The federal government will no longer be narrowly focused on where you went to school, but the skills and the talents that you bring to the job,”
At the same time, Ivanka Trump, senior advisor and co-chair of the Advisory Board said that those Americans who don’t have the job skills will be retrained, and reskilled inorder to make them eligible for the jobs.
Around 4.5 crore Americans have filed for unemployment due to the lockdown and coronavirus impact, and this move will certainly benefit them.
Which Jobs Will Be Impacted?
If we talk about the statement made by President Trump, then it’s clear that this focus on job skills rather than college degree will mainly impact US Govt jobs as of now.
US Govt employs 21 lakh civilians all across America, and thousands of vacancies are posted every week.
However, if we talk about the ideological impact of this move, then it will be intense, and far-wide.
We can assume that companies dependent on immigration can also select this mode to focus more on the job skills, and less on the college degree, and this can trigger a chain reaction, all across the globe.
We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
