Production Of The All New Fifth Generation Honda City Commences In India

Honda Cars India has initiated the manufacturing of the 5th generation Honda City at its plant in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The car was supposed to be launched in April 2020, but the plans were shelved due to the outbreak of the coronavirus disease and the lockdown imposed nationwide. Now, the car launch is scheduled to happen in July 2020.

This Honda City is globally the seventh generation, but as the first model of the car that was launched in India was the third generation one, this makes the new model the fifth generation model in the Indiann automobile industry. 

Rajesh Goel, Sr. Vice President & Director, Honda Cars India revealed that the company is delighted to begin the production of the fifth generation Honda City which will be launched next month. 

He said, “The aspirational sedan comes with a rich legacy of over 22 years across four generations and has been synonymous with Honda brand in India. The excitement and anticipation around the 5th generation City in the pre-launch phase has been extremely encouraging despite the currently prevailing market challenges. 

As per Goel, the newest  Honda City is an engineering marvel on all the aspects of design, technology features, and is positive that the car will appeal to the modern age customers.

Expected price of this all new Honda City is between Rs 11 lakh to Rs 16 lakh.

Honda City: Specifications And Features  

The car is compliant with BS VI, and it will come with two variants: petrol and diesel. The petrol engine will be a 1.5-liter i-VTEC DOHC engine, set to produce 119 bhp power and 145 Nm torque. Whereas, the diesel engine will come with a 1.5-liter i-DTEC unit and produces 99 bhp and 200 Nm of peak torque. 

The car will also have multiple features, including six airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist, LaneWatch camera (similar to the Civic), Agile Handling Assist, Hill Start, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), ISOFIX compatible rear seats, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, multi-angle rear camera, and more
