Everything from WWDC 2020. Apple hosted its first-ever online-only WWDC with some major announcements. The much-awaited was iOS 14, the latest software version for the iPhones. iOS 14 has seen a complete makeover with a much more customisable version now.

Apple will start to roll out iOS 14 later this year for all supported iPhone models. The company also took off the wraps off other different software versions for different apple devices as: tvOS 14, WatchOS 7, iPadOS 7 and new features for AirPods.

iOS 14 Announced: New Features, Fresh Upgrades

The new iOS 14 has been completely redesigned with more customized features. There’s an all-new App Library, Widgets, Picture-in-Picture, and much more. App Library automatically organizes the apps into groups on iOS 14. Apps will be organized in the home screen under different folders.

You can also hide apps in the main home screen.

Widgets have been updated. You can also add widgets for weather, Apple Music and other features. 

iOS 14 now offers system-wide picture-in-picture. Messages have new features as pinning contacts, conversations with Group chats being threaded. 

Apple Maps and CarPlay have new features. “App Clip” is a latest feature which allows you to access a small part of an app without the need to have the whole app.

iPadOS 14: New Feature, Redesigned Widgets, Apps

As the new iOS 14, the iPadOS 14 comes with a completely redesigned interface with new widgets, apps and improved Siri. Apple Pencil now comes with improved handwriting recognition, Scribble feature for handwritten content into text and more.

The Photos, Music and other apps on the tablet OS come with a sidebar. You can swipe within the sections of the apps. Notes app can now convert handwriting.

You can search through handwritten text. Depth API in ARKit 4 will use LiDAR scanner for measurements, colours in different sections and more. Apps will have to ask for permission before tracking users and approximate location will be shared instead of their precise location. 

tvOS 14 Will Support Picture-in-Picture Mode, Multi-User Ability

tvOS 14 will come with support for Apple’s HomeKit accessories with direct control via the new Control Center UI. The latest UI will also support picture-in-picture mode. It will also support Adaptive Xbox One controllers, Xbox Elite Controller Series 2 and multiuser support.

You can now resume gameplay on Apple Arcade games with AirPods audio sharing, 4K YouTube videos. The official tvOS 14 release date is yet to be announced.

Apple WatchOS 7: What You Get?

The new watchOS 7 comes with improved sleep tracking. This will create a pre-bedtime routine to meet your sleep goals. Apple watchOS 7 will help you with better sleeping. It will detect your micro-movements during Sleep Mode. Apple Watch will turn on Do Not Disturb and automatically will dim the screen overnight.

Apple watchOS 7 will automatically detect handwashing motions. Amid Coronavirus, it will be reminding you to wash your hands at intervals and even when you return home.

Apple watchOS 7 has four new workout types: Core Training, Dance, Functional Strength Training, and Cooldown. It now charts daily Activity, Workouts, Awards and Activity Trends on one tab with Activity Sharing and Activity Competitions on another.

AirPods With Device Switching, Spatial Audio Support

AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro will now be able to automatically switch between Apple devices. AirPods on the Mac or iPad can automatically connect to the Apple device. When you pick up the device, it will automatically connect to the device, and can transit between your devices as iPhone or iPad.

Spatial Audio is also coming to offer a movie theatre experience with Dolby 5.1, 7.1 and Atmos support on AirPods.
