Clearing all speculations regarding the suspension of H1B visa, US President Trump has confirmed that it’s finally happening.

In a media interaction, he said, “We’re going to be announcing something tomorrow or the next day on visas. And I think it’s going to make a lot of people happy. And it’s common sense, to be honest with you.”

He said that the H1B visa can be suspended “tomorrow or the next day”.

Why US Is Suspending Work Visas Like H1B?

The main purpose is to protect American jobs.

On being asked the reason, Trump said, “We have plenty of people looking for jobs,”

When asked about the exemptions of this suspension, he said that some exemptions can be some to “protect the flow of workers for big businesses.”

He didn’t reveal any further details.

For the immigration suspension order passed on April 22 till June 22, healthcare workers were exempted, besides some categories of agriculture jobs and relatives of US citizens.

That time, he had said that the immigration visas will be suspended to “ensure that unemployed Americans of all backgrounds will be first in line for jobs as our economy reopens”.

US issues 85,000 H1B visas to foreigners, and Indians account for 70% of those H1B visas.

In case US suspended H1B visa till 2020 end, then it will be huge blow to the Indian IT sector.
