The Coronavirus pandemic has severely affected every industry out there, including the telecom operators and broadcast distribution platforms in India. These industries are putting all their hopes on maintaining their subscriber base and they are also hoping for an increase of at least 7 to 8% once the COVID-19 pandemic subsides. 

The companies are confident that despite the lower ARPUs, the companies have allowed late payments and also the options for cheaper packs to their customers.

Tata Sky Looking At Subscriber Growth In Recent Future

A Tata sky spokesperson has revealed that to measure things have happened across the recent 3 months that have passed in lockdown. First is that the people who already possessed a set top box started using it again and the process of initiating new connections has already started as well. The company noticed this over the last month especially. 

He said, “There is no doubt that the lower end of the customer base has faced a cash crunch, those below the threshold of ?400 per month but we’re still looking at a normal trajectory of subscriber growth.”

As per reports, Tata Sky has observed a hike in the recharges by as much as a billion in the first month of lockdown. However, this was observed to tone down a bit later. But the company soon came up with a new way to deal with this situation. The company canceled channels and subscription packs of about 7 million subscribers in order to ensure that the service is retained for them. 

D2h Launched Offers And Plans To Keep Offering Services To Customers 

Whereas D2H, which is a DTH brand of dish TV India Limited launched the ‘Friends and Family Recharge’ plan where any D2H customer can recharge for another person through to the respective register telephone number or customer ID on the website or app of the platform. 

They also made some changes to their you promise we resume plan with offered an extension of 5 days for the recharge credit window to the customers for rupees 10 per month they also launched pay later service when customers could extend their viewing period without incurring any extra charges by only giving a missed call.
