These 8 Bollywood Movies Will Release On Hotstar & Skip Theaters: Release Date, How To Watch?

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the economy has taken a hit by declining the income, profit of various industries as they suspended the operations due to nationwide lockdown. The lockdown has left more than 9,500 theaters and other public places shut impacting the film and television industry.

The releases of movies have been postponed as the theatres have all been shut down. However, amidst the lockdown, the film industry has instead decided that they will be releasing some of the upcoming movies on OTT channels itself.

Currently, probably the only industry that found its business booming would be the Over-The-Top Media Services (OTT), such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ Hotstar and the likes.

Laxmmi Bomb

A Raghava Lawrence directed film with Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in the lead roles was scheduled to be released on May 22, however, as there is still a lot of post production work in the pipeline, this horror comedy will be released in June. Akshay plays the role of a transgender. It is a remake of the Tamil movie Muni 2: Kanchana.

Bhuj: The Prime of India

Ajay Devgan starring war action film directed, co-produced and written by Abhishek Dudhaiya is set to release on Disney+ Hotstar. Ajay Devgn plays the role of an IAF Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik. The story is set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, where Karnik was then in-charge of the Bhuj airport wherein he and his team reconstructed the IAF airbase with the help of 300 local women. Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi, Sharad Kelkar, Ammy Virk and Pranitha Subhash are starring in key roles.

Sadak 2

The sequel to the 1991 Sadak, will mark the return of Mahesh Bhatt as the director and  will see the original actors Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt along with new pair Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur. 

The Big Bull

The much anticipated Abhishek Bachchan starrer, The Big Bull is also heading to release on OTT. Abhishek Bachchan starrs as a man who sold dreams to India. The film will also star Ileana D’Cruz, Nikita Dutta and Soham Shah. Produced by Ajay Devgn and Anand Pandit, directed by Kookie Gulati and co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Vikrant Sharma, was set for theatrical release on 23rd October, 2020.

Dil Bechara

The much delayed film starring Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi will finally get released on OTT .The film is a remake of Hollywood romance drama The Fault In Our Stars. The film marks the directorial debut of casting director, Mukesh Chhabra. With the demise of the actor Sushant Singh Rajput, this movie is going to be a hard pill for the audience to swallow.

Mimi

With Kriti Sanon in the lead, the film is produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films in association with Jio Studios. Mimi is based on Marathi film ‘Mala Aai Vhaaychay’ which won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi in 2011. Kriti plays the role of a surrogate mother. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Sai Tamhankar.

Lootcase

The film will see Kunal Kemmu in the lead along with Gajraj Rao, Rasika Duggal, Ranvir Shorey, and Vijay Raaz. The movie is directed by Rajesh Krishnan and produced by Fox Star Studios and Soda Films Productions.

Shiddat: Journey Beyond Love

The romantic drama film will star Sunny Kaushal, Radhika Madan, Mohit Raina and Diana Penty. While Radhika is starring opposite Sunny, Mohit will be paired opposite Diana. Directed by Kunal Deshmukh, the film is produced by Dinesh Vijan.
