Parle-G Biscuits Records Highest Growth; Market Share Grown By 5%

Parle-G has been essential in every other house in India, popular for its taste and price equally. A whole packet of the glucose biscuits has been available at only Rs. 5 and Rs. 2, and many migrants relied on the snack on their way back to their homes.

As per reports, the market share of Parle Products, which came into existence in 1938, has grown by nearly 5%, and the credit for 80 to 90% of the boost goes to the Parle-G biscuits. Parle-G also recorded the highest growth rate among all the biscuit companies.

The company restarted its production on March 25 itself, and considers themselves fortunate to be allowed to do so.

Reason Behind Parle-G’s Massive Success?

Mayank Shah, category head at Parle Products said, “During the lockdown, Parle-G became the comfort food for many; and for several others it was the only food they had on them. This is a common man’s biscuit; people who cannot afford bread – buy Parle-G.”

As per Shah, several state governments requested for the biscuits to be provided to them, kept in touch with the company and asked them about their stock positions. In addition to that, several NGOs also bought huge quantities of the biscuits. Despite the earthquakes and tsunamis, Parle-G has also always found its sales increasing.

He also said that people rely on Parle-G because it has a greater shelf life than most other cookies.

Reportedly, Parle-G makes around 400 million biscuits in a day, across 130 factories around the country. The company also announced that they donated three crore packs of Parle-G biscuits as the COVID-19 situation grew tense in India.
