Mitron App Can Return To Playstore; Google Explains Why They Banned Mitron, Remove China Apps

Google recently removed two apps from the Google Play Store, both developed in India. The first one was Mitron – another version of Tik Tok, and the other one to go was ‘Remove China Apps’.

Both the apps were very well received in India, and Indians were indignant when they were taken down. Given the economic war that India is waging against China, the odds of India based apps hitting the popularity charts has increased.

Google Takes Down Mitron; Will It Be Available Again?

Tech giant Google removed Mitron from the Google Play Store last week. Prior to that, the app recorded a huge 50 lakh users within a few weeks. The app has been developed in India and was pitted against Tik Tok, the Chinese app which enabled users to make and share small music videos. 

However, soon enough, the app was removed from the Play Store by Google citing multiple violations of technical policies. 

However, Google has assured that the app can be reinstated on the platform once the developers fix the issues present in the app. 

Sameer Samat, Vice President, Android and Google Play said, “We have an established process of working with developers to help them fix issues and resubmit their apps. We’ve given this developer some guidance and once they’ve addressed the issue the app can go back up on Play.”

As per reports, Mitron was a copy of an already existing short video app called TicTic. 

Google Takes Down ‘Remove China Apps’ App; Here’s The Reason 

As per reports, ‘Remove China Apps’ was taken down by Google for policy violations, and there is no chance that we might see it on Google Play Store again. 

The growing tension between India and China has led to Indians boycotting Chinese products, including the China-based apps. This also started with the Youtube Vs TikTok war. 

Remove China Apps has been taken down by Google for encouraging users to remove or disable third party apps. Apparently, it also modifies the settings and the features of the device, which it cannot do unless it is a verifiable security service. 

Samat said, “When apps are allowed to specifically target other apps, it can lead to behavior that we believe is not in the best interest of our community of developers and consumers. We’ve enforced this policy against other apps in many countries consistently in the past – just as we did here.”

He also said that this action has been taken to ensure a healthy and competitive environment, and that developers and their apps will be successful on the basis of their design and innovation.

To no one’s surprise, Remove China Apps hit one million downloads on Google Play and was also listed amongst the top free apps.
