Xiaomi India is yet to give us details on which laptop will launch first. 

The Mi and Redmi laptops are quite popular in China, and it could turn out to be a big hit in India as well. The Mi Notebooks and RedmiBooks will be much more affordable compared to the existing ultrabooks from Acer, Dell and HP.

Which Mi Laptops Are Coming To India?

The number one smartphone and TV brand in India, is now all set to enter the aggressive laptop market in the country. Previous leaks have hinted towards launch of the RedmiBook and Mi Notebook models in the country soon.

Xiaomi already sells laptops in China, and it also now sells a new range under the Redmi brand.

It has two laptop series available currently namely Mi NoteBooks and RedmiBook laptops. The RedmiBook laptops are affordable toned-down ultrabooks, and till now the separated Redmi brand have unveiled two laptops: RedmiBook 13 and RedmiBook 14.

Mi Laptops: Mi Notebooks, Mi Gaming laptop, Mi Laptop Air

Xiaomi currently sells multiple laptops under the Mi Notebook branding. The series include Mi Notebook laptop, Mi Notebook Pro variant, Mi Gaming laptop and Mi Laptop Air. Recently some reports came in that the Mi Laptops in India will cost higher than the budget segment laptops.

So Xiaomi is expected to bring the high-end ultralight Mi notebooks to India. 

Xiaomi India may launch the standard Mi Notebook first in the country which will be followed by the high-end Mi Notebook Pro, Mi Gaming laptop, Mi Laptop Air and later laptops from Redmi brand: the RedmiBooks.

Initially Xiaomi will unveil two series under Mi Notebook which has been chosen based on requirements of Indian users. The company aims to target students and office focusing on a mix of gaming, entertainment, education and productivity.

Xiaomi will start with the Mi Notebook series in India with Mi Book Air expected in the top-end range. Mi Laptop 13.3-inch, Mi Laptop 14-inch and Mi Laptop 16.1-inch versions will launch. There could be a Mi Notebook 14 variant as well running on Intel’s Comet Lake-H processors.

RedmiBook 13, RedmiBook 14 Specs: What You Get?

The first Redmi laptop comes with a 14-inch IPS LCD display featuring a Full HD panel. It was launched alongside Redmi K20 back in May 2019, and it’s available with different processors including Intel Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7.

The Xiaomi sub-brand recently unveiled devices running on the latest AMD Ryzen 4000 series processors with a new 16-inch screen size.

The second Redmi laptop, the Redmibook 13, was launched alongside the Redmi K30 in December 2019. RedmiBook 13 comes with a smaller 13.3-inch Full HD+ display with narrow bezels.

As RedmiBook 14, the RedmiBook 13 also comes in options of 10th Gen Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors. 

There’s 8GB RAM inside RedmiBook 13 as standard onboard storage while a 512GB SSD storage is present on all the models. It runs on Nvidia MX250 graphics card. 

The RedmiBook 14 comes with two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port an HDMI port.

On the other side, the Redmi laptop comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack. 

It’s the first laptop from the newly independent Redmi brand. The RedmiBook 14 runs the 8th generation Intel core i7 processor with NVIDIA GeForce MX250 to support the graphics.

Coming to storage and RAM, the laptop will be available in multiple RAM configurations with upto 8GB of RAM. 

As of now, the RedmiBook 14 will up for sale in two different storage variants. The base model will come with 256GB of flash storage, while the top model will have 512GB flash storage.

The processors will differ depending upon the storage configurations. RedmiBook 14 laptop comes with Bluetooth 4.0 support. 

The Redmi laptop runs on the latest Windows 10 Home out of the box. There’s a full-size island-style backlit keyboard, similar to Apple laptops. The size is very compact and lightweight with an all aluminium metal design on the out featuring a solid build weighing around 1.3kgs.

RedmiBook Ruilong Edition: Specs, Features

The RedmiBook Ruilong Edition laptops come in three screen sizes: 13-inch model, usual 14-inch model and a new bigger 16-inch model. The 13-inch RedmiBook model offers a screen to body ratio of 89 per cent whereas the 14-inch and 16-inch feature up to 90 per cent screen-to-body ratio.

Coming to design language, the new Redmi laptops have a similar design as the previous laptops. Similar to the models, there’s a new screen size with narrower bezels.

The highlighting feature on the new RedmiBooks run on the AMD Ryzen 4000 series processors.

There’s an option to choose between the Ryzen 5 4500 processor and the Ryzen 7 4700U processor. The new chips can offer up to 60 per cent more performance compared to previous generation processors with Vega 6 and Vega 7 integrated graphics.

Faster-charging is now available on the Ruilong Edition laptops by Redmi. 

The 16-inch RedmiBook model comes with 46WHr battery which uses USB-C port. Redmi comes with a 65W mini charging adapter with the 16-inch model. It promises upto 50 per cent charge in under 38 minutes with an ability to run up to 12 hours on a single charge.

Mi Laptop Price In India, RedmiBook Price In India

Xiaomi has RedmiBook name registered, so the company will start with the low-end lightweight ultrabooks in the country. Known for it’s cut-throat pricing, the company will price the Redmi laptops quite aggressively. 

It may either bring both the 13-inch model and 14-inch model, or one at a time.

Both the RedmiBooks will come with premium specifications at around the same price as China. 

In China, RedmiBook 14 starts at Yuan 3,999 (Rs 40,300), going way up to Yuan 4,999 (INR 50,400) for the top model. The top-end variant of RedmiBook 14 with 8GB of RAM and 512GB flash storage will cost Yuan 4,999 (INR 50,4000). RedmiBook 13 falls in the same pricing bracket.

The 256GB variant of the RedmiBook 14 with the Core i5 processor will sell at Yuan 3,999 (Rs 40,300). Finally, the 512GB RedmiBook 14 model running on Core i5 processor will cost Yuan 4,299 (Rs 43,350).

RedmiBook 13 starts at 3799 Yuan (around Rs 40,130) with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage with Ryzen 5 processor. The top-end variant of the RedmiBook 13 comes with Ryzen 7 processor, 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD storage at 4999 Yuan (around Rs (Rs 52,800).

RedmiBook 14 comes at a similar price of 3799 Yuan (around Rs 40,130) for the base model with Ryzen 5, 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage.

The top-end variant with Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage comes in at a price of 4499 Yuan (around Rs 47,525).

The new RedmiBook 16 starts at 3799 Yuan (around Rs 40,130) for the base variant with Ryzen 5 processor, 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage. The top-end model with Ryzen 7 processor comes with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage at a price of 4499 Yuan (around Rs 47,525).
