Govt Allows Class 10th, 12th Board Exams Across India; Face Mask Will Be Mandatory

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on May 20 issued a guideline for conducting the state board, CBSE and ICSE board exams for class 10th and 12th. 

The Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the government has decided to grant exemption from the lockdown measures to conduct Board examination for classes 10th and 12th.

10th and 12th Exams to be Conducted!

MHA has already written to all state governments informing them about the exemptions given for conducting the examinations across the nation with certain terms and conditions.

Amit Shah said that a few conditions for the safety of everyone, like social distancing, face mask etc have been imposed.

Amit Shah took to Twitter to say, “Taking into consideration the academic interest of large number of students, it has been decided to grant exemption from the lockdown measures to conduct Board examination for classes 10th & 12th, with few conditions like social distancing, face mask etc, for their safety.”

The Home Minister also attached a letter by Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla to Chief Secretaries of all states and union territories. The letter contains guidelines on lockdown measures which said opening of schools has been prohibited and as a result annual board examinations being held by state education boards, CBSE, ICSE for classes 10 and 12 were suspended.

Stringent Safety Protocols!

Bhalla said requests were received from the state government and CBSE for conducting board examinations and the matter has been examined in the home ministry.

Bhalla said, “Taking into consideration the academic interest of a large number of students, it has been decided to grant exemption from the lockdown measures to conduct board examinations for classes 10 and 12.” He also said that the exemptions come with a few conditions attached to them.

According to the guidelines issued, no examination centre will be allowed in the containment zone.?

Students, teachers and staff will have to wear face masks. 

Furthermore, there shall be provision of thermal screening and sanitiser at the centres.

In view of the examinations to be conducted by different boards their exam schedules should be staggered. At the same time, maintaining social distancing special buses can be arranged by the States and Union territories for transportation of students to examination centres.
