And finally, Indian Railways will restart, albeit slowly, but gradually.

After kickstarting 15 special trains and Shramik Special Trains, Indian Railways will now run 200 Non-AC trains daily, from June 1st.

These trains will be open for all passengers, and they can travel to any destination within India.

Is this the return of normalcy?

Indian Railways Will Run 200 Non-AC Trains From June 1st

In a late night tweet, Indian Railways has announced that starting from June 1st, 200 Non-AC trains will be running daily, across India.

These trains will be normal trains, and would be following the train timetable for the routes and timings.

As per the tweet, tickets for these 200 trains can be booked only via online mode (IRCTC app and website)

Earlier, Indian Railways had allowed wait-listed tickets to be issued, and had hinted that new trains will be soon allowed to be run.

Now, this has been confirmed.

All passengers would be asked to wear masks, and maintain social distancing. Downloading Aarogya Setu app is also highly recommended.

What About The Tickets Already Booked?

Now, there is one query which will come up: What about the tickets which were already booked for June?

Railways allow advance booking upto 3 months, and for the month of June, lots of train tickets were already booked in the month of March, before the lockdown started.

However, last week, Indian Railways announced that all tickets booked till June 15th has been cancelled, and the money will be auto-refunded to the bank accounts. In case of the physical tickets, the cancelled tickets can be refunded once the booking counter opens.

However, now since the trains are resuming from June 1, there is no clarity as to how the cancelled tickets will be refunded, and/or whether the old tickets books can still be used for June travel or not.

We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
