According to the Forbes list of top 10 private donations, India’s leading business tycoon and Wipro founder Azim Premji have become the world’s third-biggest private donor to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. 

How Did This Happen?

Many businessmen among others are donating to fight against the ongoing crisis as the pandemic continues to wreak havoc across the world. 

So Forbes has released a list of at least 77 billionaires who made the biggest contribution in pandemic relief. 

First of all,  Azim Premji is the only Indian in the top 10 list, which is primarily dominated by US billionaires. 

Moreover, Wipro, Wipro Enterprises, and the Azim Premji Foundation together have contributed a hefty donation of Rs 1,125 crores which is $132 million.

Out of that, the Azim Premji Foundation has donated a total of Rs 1000 crores, Wipro has committed a donation of Rs 100 crores, and Wipro Enterprises has committed an aid of Rs 25 crores to aid the battle against the COVID-19 outbreak, as reported by Times Now.

Who Tops The Forbes List Of Top 10 Private Donations List?

Let’s go through the top 10 billionaires who donated the most as on April 27. 

As per the compilation of data by Forbes, 77 billionaires had donated to different causes to do with coronavirus relief till the end of April. 

In which, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey stands at the highest, with a donation of $1 billion. 

Next, the second and only other billionaire to succeed India’s Azim Premji is Microsoft founder Bill Gates along with his wife Melinda Gates who has made a donation of $255 million.

At the tenth position, Lynn & Stacy Schusterman from Samson Energy made through the list with a donation of $70 million.

Michael Bloomberg, the Owner & Co-founder of Bloomberg L.P. donated $74.5 million and stands at the ninth position in the list.

While Founder & CEO of Dell, Michael Dell stands at eighth position with a donation of $100 million.

At seventh position acquired by Jeff Bezos, the Founder & CEO of Amazon with a donation of $100 million.

The  Founder & Chairman of Skoll Foundation, Jeff Skoll acquired sixth place with a donation of $100 million.

Further at the fifth position,  Andrew Forrest, the Founder & Chairman of Fortescue Metals stands at a donation of $100 million.

The fourth position is occupied by George Soros, Founder of Soros Fund Management with a donation of $130 million.
