In a sheer case of exploitation of hapless passengers, UP Govt. controlled UPSRTC has decided to charge Rs 10,000 for taxi rides from Delhi airport to Noida and Ghaziabad.
Passengers who stranded across various parts of India will now landing at Delhi airport via special flights operated by Air India starting next week.
But if they are forced to pay Rs 10,000 for taxi rides that too from UP Govt operated taxis, then it’s certainly not correct.
UPSRTC Will Charge Rs 10,000 For Taxi Rides
Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation or URSRTC is a public sector passenger road transport corporation for UP, and comes under Under Ministry of Road Transport, Government of Uttar Pradesh.
They have decided to run taxis and AC buses from Indira Gandhi International?Airport (IGIA) to various locations in and around Delhi.
For taxis, they have decided to charge Rs 10,000 flat for any destination within 250 kms range. And then Rs 40 per kms extra.
While Rs 10,000 will be charged for sedans, Rs 12,000 is the tariff for SUV.
In the case of buses, there will be a charge of Rs 1000 for non-AC and Rs 1350 for AC buses, for a radius of 100 kms.
Why This Is Unfair?
The stranded passengers who are coming down to Delhi from various locations in India will most probably want to reach their home in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurgaon and Faridabad.
All these destinations are within 40-60 kms radius. Delhi Airport to Noida is 35 kms, and Greater Noida is 50 kms. Gurgaon is just 5-10 kms, and Faridabad is 47 kms, Ghaziabad is 50 kms.
Even for these short distances, UPSRTC taxies will charge Rs 10,000 flat.
First of all, these passengers will be coming down to Delhi after a gap of 40-45 days since the lockdown started, and most of them will be short of money and resources.
And even for the buses, beyond 100 kms, the charges will be doubled.
After voices were raised, and people started talking about this on social media, UPSRCTC has decided to review this decision.
Raj Shekhar, UPSRTC managing director said, “The officials of department of operation, technical and regional transport authority are members of this committee. They will look into the matter and submit recommendations in 24 hours. We may introduce some changes in the fare structure,”
